Koffiehuis de Hoek

Koffiehuis De Hoek translates into English as Coffee House the Corner and rightly so. This charming little café is located at the corner of Reestraat and Prinsengracht right in the middle of the Nine Streets shopping area; the ideal place for a pit stop during strenuous shopping. Koffiehuis de Hoek is also one of the best cafes in Amsterdam for a light lunch.

Retro style

Koffiehuis de Hoek in lovely retro style; wooden kitchen tables laid with green and white checked tablecloths. De Hoek is a favourite of tourists and locals alike who come for the freshly brewed coffee, a chat or simply to read the morning paper. Sit outside in summer and watch the world go by while you enjoy your Dutch breakfast. Be here for lunch and try ‘uitsmuiter’ a Dutch classic – open-faced sandwich topped with ham and two fried eggs. Equally good are the savoury omelets and pancakes Dutch style meaning with bacon rashers and treacle.

The good thing is that Koffiehuis de Hoek opens early in the morning at 07.30. The downside is that closure time is at 16.00 and cit is losed on Sundays.
