Who was Ripley?

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! originated from the work of American cartoonist and adventurer Robert Ripley. In the 1920s, he created a popular newspaper comic strip called “Believe It or Not!” He collected and presented bizarre facts and stories from all over the world. This comic strip quickly became a great success and appeared in more than 300 newspapers.

In 1933, Ripley opened his first “Odditorium” in Chicago, where he presented his collection of curiosities to the public. This marked the first step in the development of the Ripley’s empire.

With this success, Ripley quickly opened more locations in the United States and then around the world. The company expanded and began publishing books, television shows, and movies.

Today, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has locations in over 100 cities worldwide.
