The exhibition Dutch Masters from the Hermitage, Treasures of the Tsars in the Hermitage Amsterdam, is a feast for the eyes. The Nieuwe Keizersgracht wing will showcase one of the greatest treasures of the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg: the world’s leading collection of Dutch Golden Age painting outside the Netherlands. No fewer than 63 works by 50 different artists are being brought to Amsterdam for a unique exhibition that will celebrate the paintings first ‘home-coming’ in 250 years.
Tsar Peter the Great and Catherine the Great collected these Dutch master pieces. The exhibition includes not only six paintings by Rembrandt but also works of Ferdinand Bol, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and Gerard Dou.
