Historical Name
The hotel is named after Piet Hein a 17th century Dutch maritime hero. Together with Admirals De Ruyter and Tromp he captured the Spanish fleet. This deed established the supremacy of the Dutch Republic at sea.
Guest Rooms
Each of the 81 rooms is stylishly decorated; work desk, cable TV, free WiFi and safety deposit box. As is often the case in historical houses the rooms are quite small. This is made good by the beautiful view of the trees and green shrubs in Vondelpark. Some rooms are in the basement and great for watching the latest fashion in shoes!
Location
The hotel is located in a residential area away from the centre. It is a 15-minute tram ride to Dam Square and Centraal Station. The Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseums are only a short walk away. If shopping is your passion, Hotel Piet Hein is your place as it is only one block away from Amsterdam’s most up-market shopping street, P.C. Hooftstraat.
