Kalvertoren Shopping Centre

Kalvertoren is a moderate shopping center in the heart of Amsterdam. Two floors filled with well-known and lesser-known shops – including Dutch favourites like the HEMA and H&M but also 7Camice, Goto and famous Belgian chocolates at Leonidas.

Architecture

The location of this modern shopping center is unique because planning permission for the centre of Amsterdam is not given. The Kalvertoren is an exception to this rule. The shopping center was built between 1994-1995 and was praised for its modern architecture – lots of glass and steel. Now, in the twenty-first century, the building is less spectacular but still architecturally interesting.

Stores

Step inside 7Camicie for shirts in sizes S to XXXXL or for those special cufflinks. Jackets, bags and dresses; Mango has them in all sizes, shapes and colors. Swiss precision in the Swatch store on the first floor – the collection is always surprising and loved by many. Perfumery Douglas famous for the tempting perfumes and inexpensive cosmetics.

Blue

When tired of shopping, many locals and tourists, take the elevator to the top floor of the Kalvertoren to Blue Cafe, an oasis of peace and quiet. Recharge your batteries for even more shopping and the bonus is a beautiful view of Amsterdam! Come here on Thursday evening when the shops and Blue are open until 21.00. Amsterdam with lights twinkling in the twilight is breathtaking. A Duvel with meatballs or a glass of Chardonnay with eggplant caviar on toast are delicious at this altitude. Kalvertoren has two entrances, one in Kalverstraat and the other at Heiligenweg.
