Jenever Tasting in the House of Bols

The House of Bols Cocktail and Genever Experience in Amsterdam takes you on a tour through ‘The World of Flavour’. This interactive trip ends with sipping a cocktail of your choice. You will also learn how to intensify your taste, to refine your smell, mix cocktails and be a bartender for a short period.

House of Bols: Genever and Liqueurs

Lucas Bols is the oldest Dutch distillery still producing genever and liqueurs. When you drink Bols genever straight, you will notice that this spirit has a more herbal taste than vodka or gin mainly because genever is a juniper based spirit. That’s why genever is a superb base for cocktails. In the interactive tasting room of the House of Bols you get a introduction into how genever and liqueuers are distilled, how the dozens of flavours are made and how their liqueurs enhance cocktails. You will also discover that what you see affects what you taste.

Next you will participate in the guessing game, sniffing thirty–six different flavours of genever and liqueurs and then trying to distinguish them. Finally, it is tasting time. You can try as many of the flavoured genevers as you like and savour one full size cocktail, concocted while you watch.

A visit to the House of Bols is the best way to start you night out in Amsterdam. The admission fee includes a cocktail of your choice. Minimum age to join this tour is 18.
