Amsterdam Lookout Tower

A’DAM lookout is a lookout tower on the top floor of the A’DAM tower, directly opposite Central Station. A’DAM lookout offers a spectacular panoramic view of Amsterdam. That’s not all. The observation deck has the highest swing in Europe. You dangle from the edge of the building, on the 21st floor.

A’DAM lookout: the View

The viewpoint on the roof of the A’DAM Tower offers a grandiose 360° view of Amsterdam at a height of 85 meters. The super-fast elevator takes you to the twentieth floor in about 20 seconds, once at the top you have a phenomenal view of the city. You see the centre, the port area, the IJsselmeer, Pampus and the polders north of Amsterdam. Below you can see the boats and ferries sailing back and forth and the hustle and bustle at Amsterdam Central Station. The interactive exhibition about the history of Amsterdam provides background information about what you see from the A’DAM Tower.

Over the Edge Swing

Be sure to pay a little extra for ‘Over the Edge’, the highest swing in Europe and a dazzling experience, but not for the faint-hearted! Daredevils and thrill seekers will swing 100 meters above the ground, back and forth over the edge of the tower with Amsterdam below their feet. Enjoy the unrivalled view over the capital city of the Netherlands, while the adrenaline flows through your body.

MA’DAM and Moon

The observation deck ticket includes access to MA’DAM, bar and restaurant on the 20th floor. Moon is a fancy restaurant that rotates and is quite pricey.

Sir Adam

The first eight floors of the tower are home to a luxury boutique hotel, Sir Adam. The companies located in the A’DAM tower are music related (Gibson Guitars, Sony Music Entertainment and MassiveMusic have offices here). The theme of the hotel is music and the rooms are decorated with musical accents like records and guitars.

Butcher Social Club

The ground floor houses one of the locations of The Butcher Social Club, a burger franchise that started in Amsterdam and can also be found in other cities including Berlin, The Hague, Manchester and Ibiza. In addition to burgers, they serve salads, nachos, steaks, chicken wings and milkshakes. Once you’ve eaten your fill, you can have fun with arcade games. There is a pool table, table football table, table tennis table and board games.

A’DAM Tower and the Shell Company

The Amsterdam Tower is not a new building. The building was known as the ‘Shell Tower’ because this company was based here from 1971 to 2009.
The municipality of Amsterdam bought the tower and, after renovations, it reopened in 2016 as a combination of offices, entertainment venues and viewpoint with a revolving restaurant. With an extra part on top, the tower also went from 80 to 100 meters high. It is not the tallest building in Amsterdam, but it does offer the best view of the city.
