Amsterdam Lookout Tower
Amsterdam has a lookout tower! This is good news because there are no tall buildings in the city apart from the Westerkerk whose spire points only 85 m into the air. Amsterdam Tower is 100 meters high and situated on the IJ River behind Amsterdam Central Station. On top of the 22-storey building you can find A’DAM Lookout, Amsterdam’s newest hotspot.
A’DAM LOOKOUT is an observation deck with a panoramic view of Amsterdam. You’ll see the city’s historical centre, the port, the unique Dutch polder landscape and the famous canals which belong to the UNESCO world heritage list. Complementing the experience is an interactive exhibition about Amsterdam’s history and culture.
Over the Edge
Be sure to pay a little extra for ‘Over the Edge’, the highest swing in Europe and a dazzling experience, but not for the faint-hearted..! Daredevils and thrill seekers will swing 100 meters above the ground, back and forth over the edge of the tower with Amsterdam below their feet. Enjoy the unrivalled view over the capital city of the Netherlands, while the adrenaline flows through your body.
Tip: Purchase your A’DAM Lookout ticket without hassle and buy online.
Regular Ticket: admission to the observation deck + digital photo
Premium Ticket: fast track entry + free gift + digital photo
Sunset Ticket and Cocktail (from 18.00-20.00 hrs): fast track entry + cocktail (18 years or older) + digital photo
Amsterdam Tower is not a new building. It has been there since 1971 and was built for the Shell Company, a British-Dutch multinational Oil and Gas Company. The 360° view from this tower is spectacular: down below the IJ River and beyond the historical city of Amsterdam, to the north-west Amsterdam harbour and to the north rural areas.
Nightclub and Hotel
Non-thrill seekers may like to go to the Moon Restaurant on the 19th floor. This restaurant slowly revolves so that you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Amsterdam. For a unique experience you go underground to the Shelter Nightclub with great music and delicious drinks. The Sir Adam Hotel occupies part of the Amsterdam Tower and the remaining space is taken by bars and restaurants including Madam a second panoramic restaurant.
